As a Muslim it is your pride and honor and be holy to visit Mecca once in your life. That is if u can afford it. Its like the Christians its a lifetime to remember if they can visit the Vatican and the Holy Land. Same with the Jewish  and the Buddhist, Hindu and etc.

It is the center of religion where people gather for the annual pilgrimage.  Every individual must go there even once in a lifetime to be a religious.
