What is the incentives for wikipedians to donate their time on non-payment jobs (wikipedia)?

Just wonder why they have the energy to sacrifice their free time to do so...please help

  1. Wikipedia operates on the principal of ego. It makes

    the contributers feel like big shots but unfortunately

    they also become little tin gods who do more harm

    than good.


  2. The main reason you have difficulty understanding this is your use of the word "sacrifice."  It isn't a sacrifice to do something you enjoy.  If you do not enjoy using and editing Wikipedia, it doesn't mean that others are not allowed to enjoy it.
