  1. a lot. living in miami, the ocean predicts everything, especially temperature and things like hurricanes.

hurricanes grow in strength when the waters of the ocean are warm and die out when they are colder/cooler.

  2. It has many effects on weather. One thing is the water cycle. Water evaporates and rises from the ocean into the atmosphere. Then it condenses and forms clouds. When there's too much water vapor in the atmosphere, the water vapor will fall as precipitation. Once the precipitation reaches the ground, the cycle starts all over again. Also,  it takes the ocean longer to change temperature than land. So during the spring and summer months, coastal areas won't be as warms as inland areas because a sea breeze develops (onshore flow of wind) because the ocean water is cooler than the land temperature. At night and in the winter, coastal areas aren't as cool as inland areas this is because, the ocean is warmer than the air temperature at night and in the winter so a land breeze develops (offshore flow of wind). Also, thunderstorms aren't as strong in coastal areas than inland areas because the ocean weakens thunderstorms as the move closer to the ocean. So the ocean effects weather by causing precipitation and temperature differences and changing the intensity of storms.

  3. Water vapour in the atmosphere is mainly responsible for the formation of many weather systems. This water vapour enters the atmosphere mainly through evaporation from water surfaces (particularly ocean surfaces) and to some extent through transpiration of plants and trees.

So, it is the ocean which is responsible for many weather conditions.

Moreover, ocean currents influence the climate of some coastal countries. For example, the warm Gulf Stream makes the climate of the north west  Europe more moderate than that of many places in the same latitude.
