    The armorial bearings are the property of the armiger and are by law.the arms can be used in many ways it is best before bearing arms to check you're ancestry.You can bear arms if they are in you're family history But they must be modified for you and authorized by sending a petition to the Lord Lyon for a grant.The ones I have seen in the states are false and not authorized to wear.But who cares is the attitude of most .If you do think you have arms and want to research the fact here is the site to do so.
