I haven't read any extra literature, i've only played the Xbox 360 version of the game. I have always been disappointed that the real reasoning behind E-Day (Emergence Day) was never very well explained in GOW, and that the biggest hint you get is at the end of the game when the Locust Queen (or so we presume) tells us they 'must'

But why? Is it to do with emulsion, are we invading their territory? Whats your opinion?

  1. i think that the locust horde invaded sera bc they wanted 2 take what was rightfully theirs humans colonized sera along time ago and i believe the locust horde were the native life forms of sera and wanted their planet and also their imulsion back before it got depleted and their top goal is the extermination of the human race

  2. The story is set pretty far into the future.

So as you can imagine resources are running low, such as fossil fuels, etc.

Until a doctor by the name of Helen Cooper perfects the lightmass production system, thus providing the world with an abundant resource known as immulsion.

News of the new abundant resource spreads far and wide. Reaching the ears of desperate "demons" AKA Locust. The Locust Queen decides that it is in the benefit of her own civilization to invade the quiet and peaceful planet of Sera.

Throughout the game, campaign and online, you may notice posters that say no blood for immulsion. These posters indicate that the war is being fought over immulsion.

Heres a great link I dug up on the web. >> http://gearsofwar.xbox.com/GOW2/TheGame....

And remember, Gears of War 2 comes out 71 days from today !!
