  1. it isn't good.because of all the damaged that alot of businesses have it caused half of them to close down so many bahamian lost their jobs and some still have no job.plus u don get paid as well as if u lived in america

  2. In order for a company in the Bahamas to hire an outsider, they have to prove that they advertised the job and the no Bahamian people can do the job.

  3. What is your occupation? What work experience do you have?

If you have tourist trade experience, you will have a better chance of employment.

    Good Luck to you)

  4. Unemployment in the bahamas is at al all time high.  Jobs in the tourist industry are for bahamians only, unless you are top management and get a cushy position.

Construction jobs are thru the contractor that is doing business in the bahamas, normally businesses from South America, Mexico or US.  You would need to apply for a job thru these companies, and they would apply for a work permit on your behalf.

Any and ALL jobs must first be offered to the bahamian workforce.  Only those positions that have special skills that cannot be found in the bahamas will be allowed work permits to hire outside the country.

The chance of this happening is very slim.

As for IT.. there are thousands are great computer and IT techs in the bahamas looking for work.

Without an offer from a company, you won't be allowed to apply for a work permit, and without a work permit, you will not be able to stay in the bahamas.

Work permits can cost from $500 - $10,000 depending on the job and the duration.  After the permit is up.. you will be repatrated (asked to leave).

If you are a nurse, certified teacher or doctor, you can apply to the gov;t education or medical facilities.  Pay scales are quite low.. considering wht these position get paid in the states.

  5. It's not really nice. A lot of the jobs are already taken, and are on the virge of being layed off, because the slagging economy in the Bahamas is causing bussinesses to shut down, and lay off their employees. they just can't afford to keep them, and pay them as normal.

Also, the other jobs, from new developments, are already promised to the Bahamians, they aren't to keen on foreigners. They'd rather hire Bahamians, to stop confusion. It's really not nice right now in the Bahamas.

  6. If you are a teacher, they earn $15,000 a year. On the news yesterday I saw a report on BTC ( phone company here in Bahamas) and they stated that Bahamas has a growing demand on Tech jobs and /or IT.

Also the Engineering industry and Hospitality industry is also a good place to look. They have lots of demand in those areas.
