  1. that depends on the car really. on a com[pact front wheel drive, you should be able to have it done in an hour, but on a jeep pr something like that about 2 hours. at least that is about how long they take me on  a slow day.  


  2. expect 90-120 bucks an hour average.  plus the part cost.  so about 300-400 bucks.

    doing a cv shaft is not for someone who isnt experienced.  what you need to do is remove the axle nut, unbolt the whole assembly, swing it out of the way and off the axle, pry the axle out of the transmission, install the new one in, return the assembly back to the shaft, press the assembly back onto the new shaft, rebolt it up, install the axle nut, then take it in for an alignment

  3. that is hard to answer since it really depends on what type of car and how much labor the shop charges per hour... most of your small cars and minivans shops usually charge right around an hours labor to change out a half shaft
