- Are you interested in commercial or investment banks?

- Would you include non-British banks, because banks such as ABN-AMRO, ING, JP Morgan, Citigroup, are bigger than a lot of british banks.

- What is your definition of size? Market capitalization in the stock market, assets, deposits. You have to define so we can help you further.

As for your 'money in their safe' terminology, there is not much money in anybody's safe these days. They are deposited in central banks or invested.
