  1. The city of Anchorage, Alaska  is the largest in land mass in the USA and is over 1200 sq. miles, larger than the state of Rhode Island

  2. I misunderstood your question

    population wise its tokyo

sq miles its new york 17,000+ sq kms 19,000,000 thats the metro

  3. Hulunbuir, Mongolia is 263953 kilometers squared and is the largest city by area on Planet Earth.

  4. It used to be Philadelphia and/or London, depending on how you interpreted the data, but since 1997 it has been Chongqing, China, with an area of 82,400 sq km or 31,814 square miles.  That's about 20 times the area of the entire State of Rhode Island! Roughly 10 million people live in Chongqing...

  5. One important thing:  Do you mean just within the city limits?  Or the "metro area", meaning including suburbs?

Using LA as an example because it's pretty big, would you want just the city of Los Angeles?  Or also Glendale, Burbank, Irvine, etc. included?

Personally I think metro area statistics are more useful, since the city would have much less industry without the people from the suburbs commuting in every day.  But I don't have land area statistics for that.

For just the city itself, here you go:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cit...
