Russia by far.  (in land area that is)  China is as far as population goes.

Of course this is ignoring the territories that are looked after by some countries.

For example if you include the Australian Antarctic territory with Australian landmass then you increase size by a considerable amount.

Another issue is that a size of a country does not include sea that is owned by a country... so The USA and Australia become quite large in comparisson.

Despite this even when you include these areas... Russia still holds the largest country record.
