There is a definite difference when hitting a driver with a oversized head. One time last year I used my sons' driver

which is oversized and connected for a 275 yd drive.

I average around 190-225 with my own driver but I'll be buying a new one this year.

  1. It is still limited to 460 cc in volume, but manufacturers have to also conform to USGA's ruling on the permissible 'coefficient of restitution' for the club head face, so as not to have too much of a 'trampoline effect' upon impact with the ball. Otherwise the 460 cc can be done in any shape or manner for aesthetic other than technical reasons.

  2. 460cc is the largest club head allowed by the USGA.

  3. 460 CC is the largest USGA conforming driver head size. That is why most companies are making 460 CC head drivers right now, and haven't gone bigger.

  4. The PGA Tour conforms to the standards set by the USGA. So 460cc is the maximum at this point. You won't find one larger than this from any of the major manufacturers. Golfsmith makes a 1000cc component head, but that's not for tournament or handicap rounds.

  5. 460cc
