What is the largest town in the USA by area?

I'm totally guessing that it's Pittsburg, NH. It is nearly 300 sq miles and sits at the northernmost tip of NH, sharing borders with Vermont, Maine, and Quebec.

I'm looking for towns, not cities (i.e. Jacksonville, NYC, Sitka, Detroit, Chicago, and LA are all cities and therefore not correct answers).

  1. That would be Sitka, Alaska.  It has a land area of 2,874 miles.

    Pittsburgh, New Hampshire should be listed as having the 24th largest land area in the United States but is not on  Wikipedia's list.
