What is the latest a pregnant ***** can be neutered ?

I have a ***** that bred on her last cycle, she had her pups and bounced back great.

Although I knew she would benefit from being neutered I didn't want to put her through it and thought I'd be able to keep her away from a male during her following seasons! I WAS WRONG,

Now its too late and i'm sure she's pregnant, I'd rather not bring the pups into the world as finding homes will be hard.

If she is pregnant she's about 5 weeks....

CAN SHE STILL BE NEUTERED???

  1. The vet can do a spay/abort procedure.  Call your vet for information, cost, and affect on your dog.  It will be more costly than a routine spay.  Ask your vet if they will perform this--some may and some won't.

  2. You neuter a male and spay a female and all you have to do is call the vet.

  3. She can be spayed NOW and I suggest you get her in to get that done.

Though you are late in getting this taken care of and sound a bit irresponsible, I really appreciate you doing your part to keep the dog population down.  Thanks for thinking about that. :-)

  4. Well it's your fault she's pregnant again.  Serves you right.

You should really just let her have the pups and then have her spayed (neutered is for boys!) after.  Those poor pups.

Otherwise, I don't know.  Ask your vet.

  5. The pups can be aborted at any age just like human babies unfortunately. During the abortion procedure, the vet will also spay your dog. This is expensive and dangerous for your dog.

You have been very irresponsible and have put your vet in a difficult position.

Make an appointment and talk to your vet.

  6. it is impossible for a pregnant dog to be neutered. in order to be neutered, you must be a male. if ur pregnant, you have to be a female, hence, you would be spayed. but i wouldn't suggest spaying a dog that is already pregnant.

EDIT: And what's with the thumbs downs? duh what i said is true and i answered the question so for you who didnt like it, pull the stick out.

  7. Yes, she can.

Call the vet and arrange to have it done ASAP.

NEUTERED applies to either s*x, although the term is commonly used for males.

  8. Call your vet and ask.. I think it can be done but your vet may ave to see the dog first.

  9. Yes she can be spayed, if your veterinarian is willing to do it. Having her spayed is the best thing for your dog. It will prevent many health problems for her in the future, including mammary tumors and uterine infections.

  10. Females need to be spayed.

    Males need to be neutered.

Call your vet and ask if she can still be spayed and the puppies can be aborted. Do NOT allow her to bring those puppies into the world.

  11. If she is pregnant she cannot be neutered.

If she is five weeks pregnant she will have puppies in about a month, so you need to talk to the  vet.  You are right that finding new homes for the puppies will be hard.  Call the vet today and make an appointment to have the dog neutered as soon as it is medically safe to do so after the puppies are born, and then keep the appointment, no  matter what.

  12. Actually, guys, neuter is not gender specific.  It means simply that... neutering, rendering sexually neutral.  Females are spayed, males are castrated.  We have taken to using neuter to affect only males but it really applies to  both.  Seems we don't like using the term castrated

    :-)

From the dictionary: Veterinary Science. to spay or castrate (a dog, cat, etc.).

Anyway, she can be neutered, or spayed, now.  The puppies will, of course, have to be sacrificed.  No, it is not a pleasant thought, but yes, it can be done.

  13. No, she can't be neutered-males are neutered.  Depending on the vet, they may spay a pregant dog and abort the puppies.

  14. Holy c**p since when can a female be neutered? Did I miss something?

  15. I thought female dogs can only be spayed?well, yes.as long as she shows no sign of lactating it'll be okay.(usually starts at 8 weeks)so it is okay to spay her now.
