  1. As Galileo proved it is excellent for proving that gravity is a constant.

  2. The tower was originally constructed as a work of art/beautiful architecture to accompany the baptistry and cathedral in Pisa during a period of prosperity. It is a bell tower, but because of the unfortunate location in soft soil it began to sink and lean.

It is as we all know now a major tourist attraction and iconic image for Italian tourism. The tower brings in a lot of money from the tourism to the local community. It is also a starting point for so much history, which generates more interest into the history of the architecture, the period of time preceding the Italian Renaissance, local genius Galileo Galilei, etcetera.

  3. It isn't used for anything other than a tourist attraction,  at which it does a good job.   Since it slants so much it really cannot be used for ordinary things.

  4. It is there to photograph, thereby earning large sums for developers and makers of film.  But I also have my own picture hanging on a bathroom will....nice reminder of a lovely spot.
