What is the least expensive way to call the U.S. from Cabo San Lucas?

We called our cell company a week before we left and got access to use our phone from there to the US.I can't remember what it cost but it was available in case of an emergency.

Hola.  Most of us use Skype down here for free to talk to our friends in Canada/US by computer....some of us have okay cell phone plans..but it is still expensive.  I use it for emergencies.  The land line phone system here in Cabo is extremely expensive to use for long distance...don't fall for the Canada direct or calling collect advertisements....you'll pay big.  

Since you are a tourist, I would recommend buying  a phone card (ladatel) at one of the grocery/pharmacia stores and using it to call home.

The least expensive way (per minute) is actually a cell phone.

Mexitel Cellular only charges $1 for a phone call of up to 20 minutes to the US. They send you the phone in the US so you have it when you get there and can call your transfer or your hotel while you're waiting for your luggage and you put it in the mail to return it to them when you get back.

if you do not have internet access the cheapest will be 5 pesos per minute, which is about .50 cents

you can call from a pay phone, just buy a ladatel card (it has a little chip)  --put it in the phone--make the call--its simple!

other wise many times there are phone booths inside internet cafes which usually cost the same.
