What is the legal adult age for girls in texas?

My friend told me the law was changed to 17 for girls but that it is still 18 for guys. I need to know if this law really did change. And I would also like "for sure" answers, I know a lot of people still think its 18 so if possible i want proof, like from an official site.

What defines an "adult" is called the "age of majority", which is 18 years old in all of America. Your friend is referring to the age of consent (for sexual behavior), which is 17 in Texas.

You have to be 17 to have s*x.  You have to be 17 to drop out of school.  You have to be 18 to sign a contract like a lease or to buy a car.  You have to be 18 to get married without your parents' consent.  You have to be 21 to drink alcohol.  You have to be 21 to buy a handgun.

Hope one of those was what you were looking for...it's the same for guys and girls.  I can find the website to prove it if you tell me which one you were looking for...age of consent, age of majority, etc.

In TX, if you are of age and you have s*x with a 16 y/o, you could face criminal charges.  The 3 years thing that some states have doesn't apply in TX.

If you mean the age of majority - the age at which you can legally enter into contracts, and be held fully responsible for your actions as an adult, it's 18 for both boys and girls. This is the same nationwide.

If you mean the age of consent - the age at which you can legally have s*x - it is 17 for both boys and girls, unless you are within 3 years in age, in which case it is 14.
