  1. Personally, I wouldn't do it unless they were college age.    But in the interests of full disclosure, I do remember my parents going away for a week's vacation when I was 17 and my brothers were 15 and 11.  YIKES!!!!!  I was in charge....I can't believe they did that.  


  2. 18 in any state of the union. Please do not even consider leaving a child alone overnight. .  

  3. how old is the child? if they are like 13/14 ish then as long as parents are checking up on them, then most dont care as long as the child as all the necessities.

  4. There is no law in Florida. Only Illinois and Maryland have laws regarding kids being home alone. Other states do have guidelines though. It should be more about maturity than age however I think 12 is a good average age to start for short periods as long as the child can handle it and is mature and responsible.

    EDIT: I just noticed that your questions says out of twon for days...sorry, in that case you should never leave them alone for that long until they are at least 18.
