  1. For Germany it is 18 years to be legally capable of concluding contracts. Before the age of 18 you have only got a limited capabiliy, i.e. spending your pocket money. No serious tattoo artist will serve the request of a juvenile, only some illegal backyard performers may do.

You cannot answer for just anywhere in Europe, since although having the EU, each country still has its own laws.

Edit: The question was, what is the LEGAL age.

You cannot determine a legality just of the fact that it is done!

Your definition of legality will lead to anarchism; the civilisation is on its best way to get there!

I really agree with Goxy everybody shlould do what he/she wants to do, but on their own budget, not on behalf of the government.

  2. There's no legal age limit for this, at least in places where tattoos are mainly done - like big centres or holiday spots or anywhere where a crowd of young people will create a demand for it high enough for a tattoo salon to start the business. And nobody will ask you about your age; I personally know a lot of young people 16 and under, who've had tattoos in different countries in Europe, without any problems.

I expect that as long as they can get away with it at home, they're ok elsewhere.

Edit: "Legal age" as a term is used in a broader sense than ad verbatim. When a young person asks a Q using it, they usually want to know IF there is such a thing as potential obstacle for their planned activity. Then we answer with what is CUSTOMARY and what the GENERAL PRACTICE is, i.e. reality, real life, not a dead word in a law book.

And I really don't agree with LaFeeFan; he sounds like a bitter old man. Everybody IS the government, mate. Lots of everybodies make this world, even grumpy ones like yourself. Cheer up for God's sake.....not everything is about money and who's paying for what.

And I wanted to send you a personal note, but your e-mail options are disabled. I just felt like sending some warmth, love and goodwill your way, like this ---> ♥♥♥ x*x :)))))) EVEN if it leads to anarchism....
