What is the legal age to work in New Zealand?

I want to snowboard in New Zealand this summer (their winter) but in order to do so, i need to get a job there working on the ski lifts or something. So i need information on what the legal age is for working there.

  1. New Zealanders have to stay at school until they are 16 how ever I believe they can work from 14 years unsupervised.Working under that age they are the responsibility of the parents


  2. You will also need a visa to do so - depending on your age you may be eligible for a working holiday visa (18+) but you can only get this once. A Working Holiday Visa is only eligible for citizens of certain countries.

    Judging by your question, i imagine you are younger than that ? If so, you have almost no chance of working.

    The age to work parttime is younger (14?) but without a working visa of some sort you would have a very difficult time of it. Not to mention the problem of getting past immigration as someone quite young and without means of support.

    If you are above the age of 18 then looking into a working holiday visa. If not, convince your parents to come for a holiday. Or, possibly through your school see if you can arrange to go on a school exchange to perhaps Queenstown or somewhere ??
