  1. there are talks of it going up to 18yr. But still 17...so get your test asap! :D

check out the dsa site that the other guy posted

  2. As stated above, for a motor car 16 if disabled, 17 otherwise.

The DSA are currently running a public consultation on many issues to do with learning to drive, including the minimum age requirement. If there is any change, which appears unlikely, it wouldn't be enforced for at least another two years.

  3. 17

  4. 17.

They have been talking about putting it up to 18 for a couple of years - it will NEVER happen though.

  5. 16 for a moped

17 for a car or motorbike

25 to hire a car in most places

  6. It depends on WHAT you want to drive?! I assume you are talking about cars right? In which case the legal age is 17. There are plenty of rumours going around about the age going up, a minimum number of hours to be driven before a test, the driving test being split up into separate test etc etc etc....I wouldn't worry and I would believe it when I see it!

To keep up to date with current info on the driving test and age limits etc. visit http://www.dsa.gov.uk or http://www.direct.gov.uk/motoring

  7. ahah 16 in US

  8. 17 years of age.

  9. 16 - If Physically disabled, Cars and vans

17 - Standard age, applies to Cars and vans

    18 - PCV (maximum of 16 seats)

21 - Full size PCV, Rigid and Articulated trucks

There is a future proposition made that applies to car drivers, Motorists of 17 will only be able to drive provissionally and accompained. Tests and full licences will not be available until the age of 18.

The idea is so that young Motorists have a year to learn before taking tests, and therefore will be less dangerous as they have had far more practise. This will allow the DSA to make tests harder.

  10. 17 at the moment, if it's a car you want to drive.

These rumours about the age going up have been around for years. I have been driving for 16 years now and the same rumours were flying around then.

  11. 17yrs... unless you are disabled & going to be driving a disabled adapted vehicle & then its 16yrs.... strange but true!
