How old do you have to be to gamble on a cruise ship? Does it vary by the Cruise line? I'm thinking 18 or 21?

  1. Im not sure but it may depend on where your going.

    International seas its 18. :]

I heard something that royal carribbean changed their gambling age but I was just on a Norwegian cruise ship and both times..going to bahamas AND puerto rico (takin into consideration that its a united states territory) i was allowed to gamble. One time I was 19 and the previous time, last year, I was 18.

If it's extremely important to you, ask the cruise company or wait till you get onboard.

I do believe its 18 though. And also 18 to drink. no hard liquor though :]

  2. you can gamble if you are 18+ on Carnival, Royal Caribbean and NCL. You have to be 21 to gamble on Princess Cruise.

you have to be 21 to drink on all of them for the most part. Some (NCL, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean) will allow 18-20's to drink ONLY if their parent is on board with them, signs a consent form and is departing from an European or South American port. NCL only allows them to drink wine and beer..thats it.

  3. For most cruises it is 18

  4. The legal gambling age on most cruise ships is age 18, EXCEPT  you cannot gamble at that age on ships cruising in Hawaiian waters or in Alaskan water.  Any other places you can gamble on all ships at age 18.  But some ships have an age limit of 21.  See below.

Here's what Royal Caribbean has on its web site:

"Guests eighteen (18) years of age and older are welcome to play in our casinos (for all Alaska sailings, guests must be 21 years of age in order to play in our casinos)."

    This is from Norwegian's site:

    "What are NCL's Age Requirements?

Company policy dictates that a passenger under 21 years of age must be accompanied in the same or connecting stateroom by a passenger 21 years or older who expressly agrees to be responsible for the under 21 passenger throughout the cruise. This includes, but is not limited to, preventing under-age purchase or consumption of alcohol**, preventing under-age gaming activities and preventing violations of any ship's rules. Passengers must be age 21 to purchase or consume alcohol and age 18 to gamble on the ship. "

    This from Princess cruise line:

"in line with domestic age limits, as well as Princess' company policy, the casino is reserved for passengers 21 years and older. Additionally, only those passengers 21 years and older will be allowed to purchase or consume alcohol. For those whose age is questionable, picture identification may be requested."

  5. Most are 18 but some are 21
