What is the legal procedure for adopting a child? Could we choose a child or not? Would the procedure for adoption be different between a boy & a girl child?

  1. You should get a choice of boy or girl and if you were picky then you may turn them down until you find a child that is suitable. I would also check your local adoption agencies to find out. :)

  2. Well first they have to drag the birth parents threw court or if they are lucky their pressure and intimidation tactics can sometmes get the parents to give up the child willingly. Then that child bounces to a new set of foster parents every 3 months for up to 3 years in some places and longer in others. You given a line about what horrible people the birth parents are and your told your doing a great thing...

Then you PAY a fee.... and you get your child... it's alot like buying a car threw the courts. Sleazy salesman trying to make max profit of the kid your about the buy etc.

legalized human trafficking... They say slavery has been abolished. Foster care and adoption is proof it's alive and well.

  3. contact an attorney, Department of children & family services, ncfa-usa.org, davethomasfoundationforadoption.org or a variety of other adoption agencies so that you can get the procedures specific to your state.

ETA::: Jeez, Bizziboy, go spend some time on a GED or hooked on phonics so we can read your posts . . .

  4. it all depends on where you live. Yes, you could choose a child but your wait might be longer. The procedure would be the same for boy or girl. Why would that be any different?

  5. Where are you [country]?

It is different depending on the jurisdiction.

  6. Each state has different laws.  Yes. you can choose the child s*x of child unless you are open to either s*x to an unborn child.  The procedures are all the same.  Be careful of the agencies that you go through.  Ask lots of questions.  No questions is dumb.  This will be a commitment. Make sure you get references of other adoptive parents that have been successful through the agency in which you are seeking.  Start a questionaire sheet of potential questions as you think of them, this will help you be better prepared.  Also, the internet is a great tool.  Use it.

One last thing.  There are grants out there to help with adoption cost.  Check with your employer, most employers give money towards adoption & maternity leave.  Adoption is tax deductible.

    Best of luck.

  7. First thing to do is check out books or spent time at the library looking for the information you need. You have some good questions but think you would be far better off getting a bigger picture, more information, by getting information at the library. I think also you might read something that gives you more information and also just might show you a need for more information than what you will get on Yahoo. I can answer your last question, because my wife and I adopted a boy and girl years ago, the procedure is the same for both a girl and boy. Let me just say the time you spend to get all the information you can will give you comfort forever Good luck and peace of mind.

  8. It is really dependent on the type of adoption you choose.  I would highly recommend speaking with a qualified reputable local adoption agency or your local Dept of Human Services Children & Youth Division for more information.  They will be able to tell you what types of adoption are available and what the criteria is for your state or the country you are choosing to adopt from.  Each state and each country has their own rules.  Not to mention that each agency may have its own guidelines or regulations also.

I wish I had more information for you.

    Good luck.
