I'm a L*****n, I'm a U.S citizen my gf is not, and we wanted to move to canada to have a better life. Does anyone know like the whole process?

  1. You can get all the info at the link below. Since Canada's same s*x marriage applies on the Federal level, you can get married in Canada and have your gf sponsor you for permanent resident.

    I'm just assuming your gf is Canadian.


  2. Obtain Canada Permanent Resident status first and maintain it until you are eligible to apply for Citizenship.

If neither one of you is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident then the best way (the only one I can think of) to get into Canada is to emigrate as a skilled worker or as a provincial nominee.  If you are not legally married (don't know if you are or not) then you would each have to emigrate separately on your own merits.

    The CIC website will tell you what the requirements are how to qualify for these visa's.  It can take up to 1-2 years to go through this process.

    You will only be eligible for Canadian citizenship after 3-5 years of legal permanent residence.
