  1. 14 years and 9 months is the legal age for a person to start work in Australia.

  2. it used to be 14 & 9months when i first started working 10 yrs ago , ot sure if its still the same. you can go to the department of fair trading website and find out

  3. The legal age, I think, is 14 and 9 months. However, if she really wants a job, find out if there are any pamphlet/newspaper delivery jobs in your area. I'm sure there is no real age limit for these types of jobs. Also she could do small jobs for people around your neighbourhood... just a suggestion.

  4. the legal working age is 10

  5. I agree with what the others have said, however - if she is working in a family business it is legal for her to  start working really at any age.  (I phoned ATO and they agreed)

I employ my 10 year old.  He stuffs envelopes, sticks on the stickers & mails them.  I also use him for data entry, which he is 90% good at.

b.t.w. He begs to do this & is very proud to help.  He also likes the fact that he is in the business plan.  I am not some horrible slave driving mum :)

  6. Nope, it has recently changed to 14 and 0 months.

  7. 14 9 months

  8. im not 100% sure but i think that if ur under 14 and 9 months u must get a youth employment certificate in order to be hired, and if ur 14 and under ur employer must undergo a police check (even for work experience, i know that for sure)

I would recommend starting off doing some refereeing in a sport she is interested in, 12 and 13 year olds can get som money for refing primary school basketball matches (ie 9 and 10 year olds)

I kno big companies like coles and woolworths won't employ people under the 14 and 9 months nor will coles employ people with saturday sport because they don't want to be stuffed around with matches and the such.

These are the laws in victoria atleast.

    Hope this helps
