I was just wondering how long i can expect my oldest male betta to live? I have had him for almost a year but not sure how old he is. Also approximately how big should they get?

  1. They don't get that big...2-3 in I think :)

I've had two male bettas, and they both lived a bit longer than 2 years.  Good luck with your betta :)

  2. The average life span is three years, but they can live up to five years.  A site that I list below states that bettas are already six months to a year old when you buy them at the store.

I had one betta for three years.  He was my first betta and a super-fish.  I was young, so often the water would get dirty.  I also didn't know anything about maintaining the proper pH level in water or treating tap water.  I went on a one week vacation, leaving my father to take care of the fish, and when I came back he was gone.  He claimed the cat did it.  Who knows if he would have lived longer!

I have had two that died within the first few weeks. They were from the same store, so I didn't go back.  The last one I had lived two years.

I would suggest reading some material on-line.  This following site seems quite easy and straight forward:

  3. I cant say with for sure, but i got my son a male betta when he was 3 mos. old (he loved to watch them swim) and he died when my son was 21 mos old. so...

  4. The ones I raised from eggs all lived about 7 years, a few went on a year or two longer than that.  The ones I didn't raise from eggs (bought or were given), lived around 5 years but they were full grown when I got them so I don't know how old they actually were.

  5. it depends...some live for a couple days depending on where you got it, others live for years

  6. Well Betta Lover...

They can live from 1-5 years!

    Hope that helped!

And about two inches to 3 inches!
