In a three bedroom apartment, one of the bedroom's carpet needs to be replaced since one of the roomates spilled some paint on the carpet when painting their room. The office says the whole apartment's carpet needs to be replaced because of this. One bedroom carpet replacement isn't an option? The carpet was new when we moved in and they are charging us $1395. A 3 bedroom resident the year before had one year old carpet and they were only charged $699. The office says this is because it was a year old. Wouldn't that put the carpet with a 3 year dep. life. and a total cost of $2100. Please Help...

  1. Don't know.. the apartments here (Northern) mostly have wooden flooring to avoid this problem.

I say switch apartments! They should be cheaper!

  2. I live in New England not AZ, but we have a friend that owns a large carpet store. He has told me that the average person changes their carpet around every 7 years. Apartments are different because people come and go and everyone wears a carpet out differently. That office policy is really tough. If they can match carpet they can do just one room. Even if they cannot it is in a bedroom and not in an open living and dining room.  I'd tell them that I would pay for the bedroom only. Stay firm and sound adamant when you offer to cover the expense of the bedroom only.
