  1. I believe the question is in regards to " Coronary Heart Disease " as appose to " Congenital Heart Defect " ( Since it occurs only in Newborns.)

Speaking of " Coronary Heart Disease ", On average cases, It can be related to Atherosclerotic Heart disease. For CHD is the failure of coronary circulation to supply adequate circulation to cardiac muscle and surrounding tissue. And Atherosclerotic Heart Disease or better known as CAD, "Coronary Artery Disease ", is excessive accumulation of atheromatous plaques within the walls of the arteries that supply the myocardium with oxygen and nutrients.

For anyone suffering with CHD, I did strongly suggest a strict intense dietary regimen ( must refrain from meat ) coupled with regular cardio exercise. Not to forget his/her Aspirin daily dosage along with any other medically prescript drugs. Based on the level of the patient's status during the diagnosis of the disease will most likely decide the/any prognosis for it in this case of a 70 years old male patient. But there is hope that with proper care this patient will live longer and healthier  as anticipated.

  2. Everyone recovers differently. Some people can maintain a healthy life by changing their diet, stopping smoking, and taking medications exactly as the doctor prescribes. Others may need medical procedures such as angioplasty or surgery.

Although everyone is different, early detection of CHD generally results in a better outcome..
