  1. the websites are right!

it really depends on how well you take care of it.

  2. The live longer in the bush because they eat what they need not what you give it, usually around 20 years, but remember that lorikeets mate for life, so would be much better if you had two, they would live longer, they arent meant to be alone, hope this helps, goodluck! :)

  3. in good condition they can live up to 20 years.... but in general condition they can hardly survive 12 years .

  4. All the breeder's I know say about 25-30years if treated right!

One person who did the wrong thing with their lori and fed it on a seed only diet still lived for 16years, this person was a idiot and refused to take advice of others, which he totally regrets now :-(

While the other poster is right about mating for life, If you want too maintain a close bond with your lori, do not buy it a mate!

You are your lori's mate now and will be to the end! just give it lots of TLC and it is not cruel and won't effect its lifespan, If you can't, then buy mate!

Edit: Crash(my lori) laid two eggs last week without a mate and is following her natural behaviour, If Crash was a male he would just mount a favourite toy to get his rocks off LOL
