  2. Osmosis is the flow of one constituent of a solution through a membrane while the other constituents are blocked or unable to pass through the mebrane (selective permiable membrane). Osmosis is happening in plants prior to survival. As far as I know, the responsible membrane only select those constituents that is/are needed for growth & survival - that is how selective mebrane (osmosis) works in plants.
