Question:

What is the liquid they put in your eye?

at the optometrist when they do the glaucoma test...you know...the liquid that stings and makes you cry...

just wondering..

  1. Saline does not make your eye sting. If so, people would not use it to rinse contact lenses before inserting them or use it for an eye wash if something got in the eye.

    When you get your eyes dilated, Proparacaine is used (if I remember correctly-it's been a while since I dilated eyes) before the dilation drop to numb the eye. That does sting a little. If you blink rapidly it will help to disapate the sting quicker. (at least it does for me)

  5. It was probably numbing solution -- they usually use it when a machine is going to touch your eyes, like measuring the pressure, or for other drops.
