What is the liveable monthly salary in Melbourne, Australia?

I am seriouly considering to live and work in Melbourne, Australia, I want to know what is the average annual income necessary to live a simple life style with my family in Melbourne,AU. I am presently an Aviation Technical Staff.

I live in Melb and I'm on $3,500 to $4,000 a month and I do okay.  My rent is $295 a week, which is pretty cheap but it's more expensive in closer to the city.  I spend about $200 to $250 a week on groceries (for four people).   Petrol is about $1.50 a litre, so you'd have to factor that in if you were driving long distances to work every day.
