  1. Judging by your grammar, id say right where you deserve to be!

  2. It appears from your other questions that you have accepted a teaching position in Louisiana.  Congratulations and Welcome!

Living conditions in Louisiana are at about the norm for the USA.  Full government and public services (police, fire, ambulance/hospitals, schools, postal service, etc.) are available everywhere.  Amenities like electrification and indoor plumbing are about 100%, even for the poorest segments of the population. Literacy is very high, though many public (government) schools provide an overall poor level of education.  For example, many of your students will know little about India.

The next governor of Louisiana will very likely be of Indian descent.  His name is "Bobby" Jindal and he is currently a US Representative (Congressman):  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobby_Jinda...

I live in New Orleans and cannot provide specifics about south-central Louisiana (where Opelousas is located), but you are welcome to write to me with questions.

  3. Oh, jist dirt-poor.  We's all sharin' da same outhouse down here in Southwest Loosiana.  I heerd up in North Loosiana der's only one shack per 3 families.  An' it takes all seven of my six kids' daddies' child support payments for us to make it.  So's if yer thinkin' o' movin' down here, yer welcome ta stay wid me, 'cause I kin shure use da help.  You got any pigs er cows ta donate?  Ya gettin' any welfare or food stamps?  Well, see ya soon!
