I’m going to work in Wimbledon, London for 1 year start from next year. My company will provide me a place to stay so I don’t have to worry about the accommodation. Besides, I will get £40 pound as my daily allowance and end up I will have £1,200 per month. Is it enough to survive in Wimbledon, London with £40 pound per day?

  1. there are taxes you have to pay: council taxes, television taxes, telephone, food, transport, warm clothes,

where exactly are they putting you up and are they paying the council taxes and tv tax? or are you staying in a hotel?

get real clear with your company because if you are from the united states you have to pay BOTH US income taxes and UK taxes.

you haven't responded so, i will asume you have a kitchen and cook for yourself. I will assume that the employers is paying for all your income and council taxes. i will assume that you will walk or bus only to work (60p). living on very cheap homecooked food, you can make it on 40 pound a day.

if you are eating in restaurants 40 pound a day for two of you, no way.

oh, and get real clear with your employer whether you are still on the health insurance, because if you are not paying tax, and you get sick, you are not covered under the national insurance.
