What is the lobby in a backgammon game?

I don't believe that's an actual backgammon term. You may be thinking of online games, where the lobby is where  players pool before joining games.

** Geneogamer, I was thinking the same thing. The only thing I could think of was the bar, maybe some local slang for it. <shrug>

I agree with Scott. I've played backgammon for many years and have never come across that term.

The only thing it may remotely relate to is the 'bar' which is where taken pieces are placed while they wait to return to the game.
