Once in past life I visited a place with a name so long it could only be pronounced by several thousand priests reciting from secret papyri all at once for a thousand years.  Of course due to impracticality the name was not pronounced once before the demise of said nation.  It began Mogand. ktophebod. estrinatasbeeto. philippianistoner. ectophagushabeas. hysystrianus. khanistookistan-...(take a breath)..-oliviateor. mashiphagusdoon...  The priests got tired of it too.

The longest (certainly NOT the most rediculous) i can think of is the United kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Irealnd.  I believe the most ridiculous country name is Islamic Republic!!! of Iran. (as you might guess, I'm talking about the REPUBLIC bit).

The country with the most ridiculous name might be one of these:  Djibouti ( pronounced Ja Booty), Kyrgyzstan, Svalbard or Tuvalu.
