  1. The record is 515 yards by Mike Austin in 1974. It's actually quite a cool story, considering he was 64 years old at the time and hit a balata ball with a persimmon driver. No joke. There are several references, one of which is linked below.

The runner-up is Davis Love III, who poked one 476 yards at the 2004 Mercedes-Benz Championship. The host course, Kapalua, is prone to giving up long drives, particularly on its 18th hole.

  2. the longest drives on tour this year are:

    1.   Tim Petrovic          439yds

    2.   Bob Heintz           435yds

    3.   Kyle Thompson     433yds

    4.   Ryuji Imada          414yds

    5.   Charles Warren    402yds

    6.   Charles Warren    400yds

    T7.  Rory Sabbatini     398yds

    T7.  Robert Garrigus   398yds

    9.   Daniel Chopra      395yds

    10. Bubba Watson     394yds

Bubba Watson leads average distance at 313.9yds

    Tour average is 286.8yds

  3. Mighty Mike Austin and the 515-Yard Drive on september 25, 1974, at the U.S. National Seniors Open Championship in Las Vegas

  4. The average tour pro hits about 265 metres or around 285 yards (I think). The longest driver on tour is Bubba Watson and I think he averages around 300 metres or 330 yards.

The longest drive ever was 8.34 Km or 5.2 miles but that was on a concrete path.

The longest ever in a long drive comp was 515 yards which I think is around 455 metres it was downwind, and the guy was 63 years old! .

    Hope that helped
