My son has had a fever for 8 days now anywhere from 99.0-100.4. I would really like to know if anyone's child has had fever for a long period of time. Thank you.

  1. My daughter had a fever for 10 days straight.  The highest the fever got was 103 degrees.  It was after her MMR vaccine.

8 days is a long time, but that's a pretty low fever.....  I might consider taking him  to the doctor...  But they'll probably just say it's a virus.  That's what they always say.

Good Luck!  Hope he feels better soon ~

  2. i have had a few neighbor kids having the exact same symptoms.  migraines and fever. she is on day 3 but, has not been active. Went to the doctor and he said it was a virus going around.

  3. The temperature of 99.0-100.4 is normal. Anything above 100.5 is considered a fever. and 3 consecutive days with a temp of 100.5 higher you should call your pediatrician and if Tylenol or Motrin does not bring it down below 100.4

  4. 100.4 is the breaking point for an actual "fever".  Anything under is safe.  Some kids seriously just run warmer than others.  Is he teething?  Has he been running around?  Does he seem lethargic or overly hyper?  He's probably fine.
