My 1 bag disappeared on Dec. 2nd from Cork Airport (Ireland), and at this point I'm told its most likely not going to turn up. I was wondering...what is the longest someone else has waited for their luggage once lost or if you ever received your luggage after being told the case is closed. Just curious....holding out with baited breath, as I had a family photo album inside.

  1. No really bad experiences.

I think my bag didn't make it three times.

Shannon to London to Amsterdam - turned up a few hours later.

Shannon to Atlanta to Las Vegas - turned up a few hours later.

London to Frankfurt - following day.

  2. The longest I waited was 5 days (from Sunday to Friday). My lost bag (actually a mirror, which frame and glass turned up broken) was in Milan all the time. It was Alitalia's fault. I suggest you try and contact the airline and the departure airport before losing your hope. I know it won't make up for the loss of the photo album but you should ask the airline to pay for the contents of the bag. Start collecting receipts of things that were likely to be in the bag and you had to buy again (i.e. ask your friends to give you all the receipts of things they recently bought!)

  3. I am sorry to tell you that my grandsons bag was checked in for a trip to LA from Dublin  in July 06 and has never been found! I don't think you have a hope of the airline paying, that has not been my experience, they will fob it off.  Your only hope is travel insurance and I do understand that photos can't be replaced. Sorry I cant be more positive.
