    I have done no study of it, but it was a common word used around our house, especially by my sister, a spelling bee champ.

  6. It depends on what your concept of "common words" is.  There are some VERY long words but they are coined, technical or specialized and uncommon.

    The longest non-coined and non-technical word is "antidisestablishmentarianism."
