  1. It is "MALAYALAM".

  2. An antigram (AKA Semordnilaps are also known as volvograms, heteropalindromes, semi-palindromes, half-palindromes, reversgrams, mynoretehs, reversible anagrams, word reversals, or anadromes) is a word that spells a different word when read backwards. Vertical symmetry describes a word with letters that look the same when a mirror is placed vertically across it's center. You're looking for antigrams made up entirely of letters with vertical symmetry.

    Antigrams: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antigram#Se...

        * stressed / desserts

        * samaroid (resembling a samara) / dioramas

        * gateman / nametag

        * deliver / reviled

        * dennis / sinned

        * straw / warts

        * star / rats

        * stop / pots

        * snap / pans

        * pins / snip

        * lived / devil

        * diaper / repaid

        * smart / trams

        * spit / tips

        * live / evil

        * dog / god

        * gut / tug

        * maps / spam

        * war / raw

    Not a single one of them has vertical symmetry or horizontal symmetry (when converted to caps).

    I give up. Stressed/desserts and dioramas/samaroid are the longest antigrams, but they don't have any symmetry.

    Edit: And I keep calling them antigrams,  which is actually used to refer to anagrams that are antonyms now.

    Edit: You owe me 10 points - your question gave me a headache!

  3. Just to get this straight your not talking about a palindrome are you? Do you mean like really be read backwards with no incorrect letters? Like the letters A H I M O T U V W X Y... theres not many words that can be spelled with those i would think.

  4. You're looking for the phrase "palindrome."

    And the longest palandromic work in the Oxford Dictionary is "tattarrattat" which is technically an onomatopoeia.

    "Rotavator" is another- it's some farm machinery something or other.

    Thank goodness for Wikipedia.

  5. How about MAY and YAM?As "love2huntak" has mentioned one has only 11 letters of the whole alphabet to play your game.Without neologizing one has very

    limited scope to make a word which could be read as another word in a mirror.The longest,therefore may not be having more than three letters.One more for you is WAY and YAW.Yet another pair is TOM and MOT.Then

    thereis MAT and TAM.Tam is the shortened form of tam-o-shanter which is a cap of Scottish origin usually made of wool.Add TAO and OAT to your collection.The

    longest I can think of is MIA-MIA which means a temporary hut-like structure built by aboriginal tribes in

    Australia.The mirror image will read as AIM-AIM.If you

    find some more do let us know.Have a nice day.Just found another pair.TAX and XAT.Xat is a carved totem pole of various North American Indian peoples.Does TOT count in your game?
