basically not leaving zero though as a tip, I mean sometimes you get really bad service and are still expected to leave something

  1. Before I became a waitress I wouldn't leave a tip at all.  Now that i'm a waitress I know the most you could make around here is 3.13/hr. BEFORE tips.  However, if i'm getting crappy service when there's only a few tables and the waitress is too busy putting on makeup or chatting with whoever, THEN I leave a penny TAILS side up to let them know THEY SUCK!!!!  But if they were awesome I leave a penny HEADS side up on top of their tip to let them know I got great service!!

  2. Once I had such bad service, I left a tip saying "You suck" on a matchbook cover. A few months later, having forgotten doing this, I went to the same restaurant. Asking for a pack of matches to light a smoke, I got one that said, "You suck, too". Hmm. I never ate at a restaurant for suckers again.

  3. Tip = to insure promptness or tips = to insure prompt service

Bad service = no tip, if it's the waiter's or waitresses' fault. If it's the cook's fault, I'll still tip the person waiting on me if they did everything well. I'll still tell them the food sucked as I give them the tip though.

Waitress - " Oh, thanks so much. Was everything okay?"

Me - "You're quite welcome. You did everything okay. The food was really awful though. I'm going to go throw up now."

  4. I stiffed a waitress at a Dennys in Lake County, FL near Disney one morning....I got my breakfast and she never offered me any more coffee or checked to see if everything was okay....went to the register to pay and she said "oh I forgot all about you."  I told her "I forgot to leave a tip too so we are even."

  5. Once we left one cent for terrible service and terrible seating at a trendy place in the 80's in LA.

  6. I don't leave tips...period...

The employer should pay the employee's wages, not me. Nobody ever gave me a tip for ringing up their groceries, or to stock their shelves.

I'd rather the restaurant just upped it's prices by 10% and paid their people...

And no, I don't feel bad about not tipping...I'm not the one that chose to take a job making less than minimum wage...

  7. 5 pennies. And a napkin saying "I am calling your boss" I went to ihop in new orleans and waited 20 minutes to be seated before i seated myself at one of the many dirty tables. the lady came 20 minutes later and asked for our drink order. she came back 10 minutes later and wiped the crud all over the table onto my lap practically. i reminded her about my coffee, which came 10 minutes later (i was not busy that day, kept waiting thinking it would get better, couldn't get worse. i was 8 months preggo and didn't want to get up and start anywhere else) so then some guy came and took our order, with no notepad. i got a burger and baked potato when i ordered chicken strips and green beans. i figured oh well, i'll just eat this. 2 bites into it my 4 year old had to pee. so i took him to the potty. they took my food away and cleaned the table in the 3 minutes i was gone. i told the manager i would not pay i was furious. he said i had to pay and they would get me new food. i told him shove that food where the sun don't shine and wrote a letter to their corporate office. and received a $50 gift card and apology. which i sent back and told them to give to charity because i will never spend another cent of any money, not even free money there.

  8. I would give 5% for pity tip.

  9. Not one dime. I will not pay for bad service.

  10. i have left 2 dollars and then i never go back.

  11. I listed all the things that the server could have done better on a napkin and left it as a "tip"

  12. I left two pennies on the table. The service was very bad. The server had friends at another table and spent all his time goofing around with them. We got no refills on the drinks and when the food was brought out, it was cold, having obviously been sitting waiting for him to do his job!

I asked him to have the manager stop by the table and he refused, saying that if there were any problems I should just tell him. I ended up going to the front of the restaurant and asking the hostess to get the manager!

The manager did attempt to fix the problems, and adjusted the check, but I still wanted the server to know that I did not "forget" the tip, I was giving him more than he deserved!

  13. I actually left one penny to the rudest, most disgusting waitress I can possibly imagine.
