  1. can't remember exact price per gal. ,but we used to pull up,to pump,they would ask you how much & we would say the $ amount, like $2.or $3.00 worth of gas,and it lasted a long time.Somewhere around 25 cents a gal.

  5. 1971 -- it was nineteen cents a gallon at Sears for almost a whole day. There used to be these things called 'gas wars' that stations used to have with each other. They usually were located across the street from each other and they would lower their gas price in one cent increments tryiny to lure more people into their station vs the competition. That night, prices went back up to a whopping 34 cents a gallon. (sigh...)

  11. During the gas wars in Michigan in 70-71, I bought gas for 14.96 to 16.9 cents a gallon.

In 1949 my Dad was driving to Florida from California with the family.  In Texas we found two stations across the street from each other having a gas war.  The price was .10 cents at either place.  Cokes were also .10 cents.  It cost us $2.40 for drinks and gas.  I was 7 years old at the time.  Thanks for the walk down memory lane.....
