  1. not normally, ive never known a shop accpet cards for less than £1.00 some are even £5.00 then they charge 50 on top to cover their fees

  2. Yes, just be careful of small print, as they may charge you a fee for small purchases.

Some companies charge a dummy amount of 0p to authenticate your card, so there is no minimum that can be charged to a debit or credit card.

  3. 61 pence is okay. 1.22 is better.

  4. a debit card uses money straight from your account so in reality 1p is the lowest

  5. Depending on where.

It is not the banks that set minimum limits, it is the retailer.

  6. it depends on where you go to buy you item/s because some retailers can be abit funny and be-careful that they don't charge you because my local newsagents charge an extra 50p for every card payment purchase its better to go and ask a member of staff before you go to the till with your item/s i always ask before i go to the till

  7. it depends on where you are making the purchase. Alot of places have minumum amounts of $5 or $10 because the store has to pay a fee for every card they accept. For example, a store may have to pay visa .069% of every purchase made with a visa card. And it really adds up so thats why they have minumum charges.

  8. steven f nailed it.

  9. Its quite common to use it for very small amounts on line, eg ebay or itunes but a lot of shops have a minimum spend of £5

  10. The merchant pays a fee for every transaction processed.  Because of that fee, many will not accept cards on transactions that don't cover the fee.  There is NO minimum set by the bank, the processing company, or the government.
