Question:

What is the lowest temp?

My oven at home does not have a "warm" setting. The lowest temp it has on the k**b is 200 degrees. I could probably just get up and try it, but I am too lazy from a long day at work...if you turn the oven on, but not all the way to the 200 degrees point, will it heat up, or just let out gas? I know it's a dumb question. I was baking pretzels yesterday, and it took forever to proof the dough because I don't have a proofer. So help me out...will it heat up to a temp lower than 200, or is that it? Thanks for your help!

  1. It has to be hot enough to keep bacteria from forming.

  2. The best way to find out is to get an oven thermometer and try it out. Mine will go lower but it does have a setting just marked "warm".

  3. Mine will only go as low as 200.  Not a dumb ?....:)

  4. the lowest temp for your oven is " room "

  6. Experiment time, eh?

Well, what's wrong with an oven thermometer and varying the settings with a pencil and a pad?

When proofing would a tray of boiling water in the oven help?
