I have a HJC Dragon (full-face) helmet. It has terrible wind noise when riding at 40 - 45 mph. Can't hear anything but the wind at faster speeds. I have been using it for three weeks now and am not happy with it at all. Also I get constant ear-aches due to the wind problem.

  1. SHOEI helmets are wind tunnel tested and I have found them to be the quietest, however they don't fit all head shapes and are expensive.

You may want to consider wearing ear plugs when riding, it protects your hearing and you will be surprised how much less fatigue you will feel on long rides..

  2. I'm with Flesher, but I'd try the ear plugs before I spent the money on a new helmet- especially a Shoei or Aria. Have you closed the wind vents on your helmet? Is it properly fitted? I have a HJC half helmet- meaning my ears have only leather flaps over my ears (I use a headset, so I don't unzip the flaps) and don't have noise problems like you are having. I don't have that much problem without a helmet at all- which makes me wonder if you are just sensitive to the sound. Whenever I go on long hauls without a helmet, I do use foam earplugs, just to avoid ear aches.

The best earplugs I have found are the ones you get at a hardware store for construction workers. They are two colors- so you can keep them left and right.

  3. i ride with my shark RSR2 helmet is made for racing so you don't hear to much or no noise at all. they are price do it will cost you about $500. i had no problem when i took it to the race track this year.
