I recently learned that there is supposedly a fingering starting on second finger that works for all scales Bb and above on the violin. Does anyone know what it is? I believe it is for 3-octave major scales, but might also work for minor scales and fewer octaves.

  1. Yes, for memorization purposes, all second finger scales (starting with B flat, B, C, C#, D, E flat, E, F, F#), the rule is shift up on the A string, then an extension at that end of the top octave, and down on the E string (descending top octave).
