  1. Generally it is from both flying debris and storm surges, but actually in Myanmar it was the storm surge caused by the cyclone that killed so many people. They didn't die from flying debris or houses falling on them, they drowned from the rush of incoming water. Oh, and the government didn't announce that it was coming until two hours before so they couldn't get away.

  2. As with a hurricane, the main cause is drowning due to the storm surge. Most people who die are near the coast when it hits.

  3. Drowning and blunt trauma from flying debris or structural collapse. A cyclone is the South Pacific and South Asia name for what we call a hurricane in the U.S. and what they call a typhoon in the Central Pacific and Southeast Asia.

  4. Well, according to "Desperate Housewives" it would be from a piece of a picket fence flying at a high speed and stabbing you right through the middle...or not being able to hide under a staircase.  Everyone else will survive even if the whole house colapses on them!

  5. Debris blowing around and smashing into your body.

  6. one of the main causes (other than the cyclone itself!!) would be people getting hit by or trapped under the collapsing buildings and houses.
