What is the main cause of death in a cyclone disaster?

Generally it is from both flying debris and storm surges, but actually in Myanmar it was the storm surge caused by the cyclone that killed so many people. They didn't die from flying debris or houses falling on them, they drowned from the rush of incoming water. Oh, and the government didn't announce that it was coming until two hours before so they couldn't get away.

As with a hurricane, the main cause is drowning due to the storm surge. Most people who die are near the coast when it hits.
