  1. i think the real conflict of the war was to use a great war between to great nations. to explaine the demise of the Greek era and the beginning of the Roman Empire. every thing else is a 'Red Herring"

  2. defeating the Trojans to get Helen back.-Menelaus

to take control of more territory and bring back riches from the conquered.-Agamemnon

getting rid of the Greeks-hector and Priam

    keeping Helen-Paris

help Trojans win-Artemis, Apollo, Aphrodite, Zeus,

help Greeks win-Athena, Poseidon, Hera, thetis, Hephaestus, Hermes

    main conflict:war, love, jealousy

  3. One would say that is the one between Greeks and Troyans , but I think that the first lines of the Iliad explain it all:

"Sing oh Muse the rage of Achilles..."

    or in Pope's translation:

The Wrath of Peleus' Son, the direful Spring

Of all the Grecian Woes, O Goddess, sing!

That is, the main the conflict is that Achilles is mad against Greeks because Agamemnon took Briseis (a captive) away from him. This makes Achilles furious and he stops fighting, which ultimately end in the death of his friend Patroclus by Hector. Achilles mourns his friend and decides to fight again, which will decide his fate (since it was predicted that he would be killed). His death forces the Greeks to fin a way to defeat the Troyans without him, and so on.

So, I think that the rage of Achilles against the Greeks  and Hector the main conflict of the Iliad since it is "the direful dpring of al Grecian woes" .

  4. Trojans vs Greeks

  5. The illad is a conflict and battle between giants races.
