What is the main jobs of a desk clerk?

I am starting college and i have to get a job there is an add in my local paper for desk clerks I need to know what there job duties are?

You must be people orientated with good communication skills. Customer service skills a must. Be polite and friendly. And I would also suggest most important would be to have great team work with other people you work with. You are at the desk probably with someone else. Also you may have heavy phones.
