  1. Well, a libero is a defensive specialist, and back row passing is important. A libero can really help with passing.

  2. In volleyball you only have a certian amount of subs so if you have a libero you are saving subs and you can have your best passer out on the court the whole game

  3. Well the libero is the defensive specialist on the team.  He usually replaces the middle once the middle has served and there is a side out because the middle is in most cases the tallest and not the best passer on the team (no offence I play middle on occasion too).  The libero has free substitutions just as long as its between points.  The libero allows for a team to have it's best passers in the back and it's best offensive players in the front. The only draw back for the libero is that they may only play the back row, they cannot make any attck in front of the attack line or above the net and cannot serve.

  4. Basically the libero the best passer on the team. He/she can go in backrow only for anyone to pass. when they come out the must wait one rally to go back in the game. unless it's college ball then the libero can serve for one person, but only in college. the libero can't set in front the ten or hit the ball in front the ten. the libero can hit/attack the ball from behind the ten foot line as long as when they make contact there under the top of the net. and before the server serves the ball the libero must be behind the ten foot.

  5. I don't like so much the libero's ruole... he must defender only defender... He don't smash... block and so on...

ciao, I'm tony from Italy (torino) ciao

  6. well your libero is the best passer on the team, and their there just so you don't waste time rotating in and out, also, they can come in on backrow ANYTIME and they don't count as a sub!!!

  7. The libero was introduced in international volleyball in 1998 as part three changes to make volleyball more appealing to spectators.  Rally scoring and "let" serves being in play are the other two.  The main benefit of a libero is to allow the best defensive player to substitute in and a out without notifying the officials and without counting against the team's total allowed substitutions.

The drawbacks of a libero are that they can't set make an overhand set on or in front of the 10 foot line, they can't serve, and they can't attack a ball that's above the plane of the net.

Most teams do prefer a libero to a defensive specialist despite the limitations.

  8. Defense.

Your libero is your best passer, and is quick and will go all out to get the ball.  It is good to have that one person that is solely there for defense - it allows the other players to worry about the attack, giving the setter the options they need for the attack (front row or back row attack?  center hit, right or left? etc).  You don't lose anything by having a libero on the court, though your team can not attack off a set ball by the libero, and the libero can not leave their feet to "attack" at all.  They are there just for defense, and that is all they are allowed to do.
